Yeah I was kinda thinking it shouldn't be any different to formatting the HDD on a desktop pc as long as I have my installation cd, but kept being told different things. Cheers Colin :)

When you start up the machine for the first time, have a digital camera handy. Refuse the licence for Vista and take photos of your screen as you do it... you should be able to demand a refund from the manufacturer or from Microsoft of the price of the OEM installed Vista... it specifically says you can get a refund if you refuse to accept the EULA.

Mac over Pc all day long!

I was using a PC for music production and if my computer crashed the reason or cubase file would come up with 'bad format' when i went to re-open it - my whole project went down the drain and there was nothing i could do about it!!

I recently got a Mac and now when Logic freezes i can simply quit the program that freezes (not restart the computer!!). The best thing i noticed was that my Mac even saved the project i was working on before crashing and shutting the program!!!

Aye - plus you can shut down a program at a time (as you describe) using any version of 'doze later than Win2000.

The only time XP has locked up completely for me was down to Creative's sodding SBLive drivers...

I don't think there's anything to the mac vs. pc argument. Whichever works for you is clearly the best.

    However.

Apple people REALLY scare me. For example, this woman, who has just bought a new phone...

"It feels great, oh my God, overwhelming. I never thought this day would come - and now it finally has, it's mind-blowing,"

    I mean come on.

No, that is a fucktard ... not an 'apple person'
It could as easily have be a Zune, a Ninja Turtle, or a season ticket to Manchester United.
Its just the latest passing trend/object to occupy her sad empty life.

Well yes, I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, but you do see a lot of this sort of thing when a new apple thing comes out.

    Apple person? Fucktard?

I think the word you're looking for is "Yank"

    Actually, it's "iTard"...

    I mean, for fucks sake:

I can't work out whether that is meant to be satire or not.

    Tragically not.

"Nothing matches this - it's like going to a rock concert. As I went down the stairs in the store I was thinking 'this is what Sting feels'."

    :ilol:

Fair play to apple though, for managing to brainwash idiots to this degree. Marketing genius!

Well, apparently the iStaff were trained up to give each customer a round of applause as they came down a flight of stairs clutching their $500. Then another rousing ovation as they left clutching their new toy...

Obviously some of the iCustomers could do with a little more love and assurance from people who haven't got a vested interest in selling them electronics.

yeah - I love my ipod shuffle (cos it was cheap and its really small and it plays music and that...) but fuck... some of the stuff I've read about this product launch moving people to tears has... well.... nearly moved me to tears.

I have a sneaking suspicion that these people are the same ones who would happily give $500 to anyone with a southern accent offering them salvation...
