Its all i have been listening to lately.

Ambient tracks have such a special quality to them, be interested to hear other peoples favorites.

For me at the moment (in no particular order)

    1. James Murray - Gaijin
    2. FSOL - Cascade 1+2
    3. FSOL - Everyone in the world is doing something without me
    4. Solar Fields - Sol
    5. Halogen - Length & Brecht
    6. Biosphere - Poa Alpina
    7. Constance Demby - The Annointing
    8. Aes Dana - Air Conditioning
    9. Bruno Sanfilipo - inTRO (the whole album as one huge lovely track)
    10. Minilogue -Windows

Are there any artists out there releasing quality ambient works at the moment? Its one of those genre types i can never find much information about.
I love the improvised live chill you hear at parties and really enjoyed some of the reaaally laid back mixes i have found searching the forum - but would love some more deep, drone ambient albums.

    Nice tunage, Luke.
Remember that DawnWalkers mix from a few years back??
Between the 4 I did, there was lots of:
    - Brian Eno - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Eno
    - Robert Fripp - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Fripp
    - Prince Far I's ambient remix stuff - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Far_I
    - FSOL...no need to link....
    - Boards Of Canada - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boards_of_Canada
    - Aphex Twin (selectred ambient works) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selected_Ambient_Works_Volume_II
    - Tangerine Dream - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tangerine_Dream (Rubicon is made of WIN!)
    - ...and my all time favourite (joint 1st with FSOL) - Phychick Warriors Of Gaia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychick_Warriors_Ov_Gaia

There is farking loads of useful links on Wiki.... under "ambient" and "ambient dub" .....I always go there when I need a new name/album to get me inspired :)

You might enjoy Ishq - very deep and ambient - with not a lot apparently happening for a long time but in a very good way

A bit old fashioned - but I've always enjoyed Solar Quest who goes pretty deep too...

    :)

NB Beware of stuff like "Acid Air Raid" which isnt very chilled at all (but good) - George Solar Quest did a fair bit of screaming acid techno trance before getting down & chilled!

Really? In what way? I've always found it extremely smooth/relaxing listening, especially when driving, best driving tune of all time! People say Jaki Liebzeit (of Can) could drum like a machine, but he had nothing on Klaus Dinger! I also feel this track preceded Stereolab by about 20 years... :)

Well yeah Stereolab built a career on that!

I don't know when I hear it I want smash things, amazing album though.
