Huge Stereolab fan as well actually. Really love the Nurse With Wound collaboration "Simple Headphone Mind". Have it on yellow vinyl!

I could see Hallogallo getting to someone, main riff is just one note, octaves on E, but I love the sparseness of the mix, and the ambient backwards guitar washes!

Yes, Coil are my favourite band of all time, I have everything they ever ever released!

"Simple Headphone Mind" was released on black and yellow vinyl, and CD (which was even more limited than the vinyl). Tt's two long tracks, basically a really long and trippy Nurse With Wound re-working of the track "The Long Hair Of Death" by Stereolab (original is on Aluminium Tunes), with a very Krautrock/Faust vibe. Basic track is really simple CR-78 drum loop with guitars and synth bass. The NWW versions are sublime, very, very trippy!

You know, I'm tempted to make a one hour mix of all these tracks, three minutes each, all seamlessly faded! :)

    OK, here it is:

    Babaluma - Ambient Mix

    140MB Hour-long Ambient mix in .MP3 format (320 CBR)

    Track Listing:

01 Michael Hoenig - Departure From The Northern Wasteland (from Departure From The Northern Wasteland)
02 Kraftwerk - Neon Lights (from Man Machine)
03 Manuel Gottsching - Dream (from Dream & Desire)
04 Tangerine Dream - Rubycon Part 1 (from Rubycon)
05 Cluster - Sowiesoso (from Sowiesoso)
06 Neu! - Hallogallo (from Neu!)
07 Harmonia - Deluxe (Immer Wieder) (from Deluxe)
08 Penguin Cafe Orchestra - The Sound Of Someone You Love Who's Going Away And It Doesn't Matter (from Music From The Penguin Cafe)
09 Steve Hillage - Garden Of Paradise (from Rainbow Dome Musick)
10 Gong - A Sprinkling Of Clouds (from You)
11 The KLF - Madrugada Eterna (from Chill Out)
12 Amorphous Androgynous - Mountain Goat (from Tales Of Ephidrena)
13 Ishvara - Nomad (from Magik Square Of The Sun)
14 The Shamen - Entra-Terrestrial (from Arbor Bona Arbor Mala)
15 Nurse With Wound - Closer Still (from Thunder, Perfect Mind)
16 Time Machines - Queens Of The Circulating Library (from Queens Of The Circulating Library)
17 Spacemen 3 - Ecstasy Symphony (from The Perfect Prescription)
18 Michael Stearns - Toto, I've A Feeling We're Not in Kansas Anymore! (from Planetary Unfolding)
19 Pete Namlook - Winter (from Winter)
20 Erik Satie - Trois Gymnopedies (from Gymnopedies)

I went a bit crazy/restrictive on the mix, only 20 tracks, only 1 hour, each track only has 3:33s in the mix, and each fade (apart from a couple) is 33s. Some of the cross-fading/mixing is well dodgy, but then I've never called myself a DJ! It's more of a showcase of my fave Ambient tracks really. Please enjoy, and all comments gratefully appreciated!

I'm looking for more stuff along some of the Aes Dana stuff (ie more techno or house and less dub, breaks or tribal). I'm already aware of most stuff on Ultimae. I'm not adverse to total ambient oddness either. I enjoyed Phobium's ambient stuff, for example.

    Any suggestions?

I don't like percussion for percussion's sake! I'm quite hapy to wig out on parts detuning and beating against each other!

There is so much out there, it is very difficult to get to where you want to be!

I like that distant systems track. Completely new to me too - nice! Yes, the Evan Marc track is great but that is more into a specific area of techno (funky? I don't know, again, massive genre!) which makes me want to dance, rather than chill (although there is overlap!)

this is what I was thinking of techno wise. The percussion is really tricky, and highly psychedelic to my mind. 'Alignments' from the same album is great too with elements running at different speeds to each other, although it isn't techno, just a track I really like.

Have you explored dub techno much Speaka? So production-wise a bit different but in terms of mood it seems the closest thing that I can think of to the Aes Dana track you posted:

Also that Evan Marc album is amazing, was listening to it yesterday in fact. Is there anything else like that around at the mo?

yeah i was thinking dub techno as well, but then there is hardly an dub techno that has that psychedelic touch you find in aes dana or huva network that makes them so pleasant to listen to really.

about that evan marc album, i have not yet encountered anything like it at all up to now, to my knowledge its a one of a kind blend of superb dub techno and ambient/ trance. he could release another ten like this if you ask me :)

about psychedelic percussion (and even more broadening the horizon of this request, so sorry upfront about getting OT), this is some masterpiece of percussion mangling:

I love dub techno, it's a vortex to be sucked into. Though that Voices from the Lake track is probably a bit less lo-fi than most of the genre's output, this is probably more representative:

It's a funny old genre actually, ranging from the quite danceable to the almost absurdly abstract. The album this is from is a classic of the artier end:
