No dude, she really is deaf...mad as it sounds. So she can see the drums but not hear them. I wonder if thats more of a handicap than hearing them but not seeing??

Time for another bastardised Pratchett quote :

"Of course, making a musician deaf doesn't prevent them from hearing the music - it prevents them from hearing the distractions".

shut it right, ...drums on that album r'nt out of time or sound anything remotely as harsh as shed building, thats what i love about the sound, soft but pounding.
stop listening to it on your walkman youve had since you were 15 and put it on a proper stereo and then eat your hat :lol1:

in the nicest possible way of course hehe :D

err ps i dont mind agreeing to disagree
but id like to hear an example of what you think is fine drumming, with just one kick drum if u like ;)

10. Phil Collins (his early genesis drumming always blew me away)[/quote:6658f49638]
Oh, how could I forget Phil Collins?

*shame* [/quote:6658f49638]
Phil we love U!!!!!!

What a great topic :sonne:

I cant really put these guys in order cos that would be too hard but here are some of my favourites who have inspired me the most:

--- Dennis Chambers (taking co-ordination to another level!)
--- John Bonham (the mould-breaker)
--- Chad Smith (had the pleasure of meeting the guy at a drum clinic - solid as a very funky rock)
--- Steve White (doesnt really show off his skills with Paul Weller, but trust me this guy is technically incredible)
--- Trilok Gurtu (this tabla master knows how to groove)
--- Derrick Mckenzie
--- Sola Akingbola
--- Billy Cobham (truly drool-worthy)
--- Vinnie Paul (mind blowingly fast)
--- Stevie Wonder (he did his own drums on his classic albums)
--- Michael Creech (my old drum teacher who I have massive respect for)

Anyone wanna recommend some jazz fusion drumming masters?

(edited to add: I have to mention Buddy Rich - as he was the original jazz master!!)

11. Buddy Rich

12. Gene Krupa

13. Talvin Singh [If we're talking tabla...]

The Doors were Manzarek and Morrison and a handful of good songs. The rest of it was toss.
