Finally got some money so was gonna order some vinyl at last for my new decks. Couldn't find any of the tunes i wanted to get tho so i'm thinking maybe cd decks would have been a good idea.

Currently got Gemini SA600s and a Numark mixer. Dont really have a clue about cd decks so was looking for some info really. Hoping to sell my vinyl set-up and use the money to get cd decks. Might be able to add a bit of extra cash if needed.

Any advice on what decks to get/where to get them from etc? Probably gonna get 2nd hand as I doubt Ill be able to afford new ones.

righty , if u got loads of money , eyther pioneer cdj800 £469 (each)
or Denon DN-s3000 £475 (each)
if thats tooo much (probbaly withh the money u will get from selling second hand gemini's)

go for
the pioneer cdj 100's (£479 for a pair)

in my opinion these are the ones to go for , cheep , reliable, easy, 3 effects buttons.... ect ect...

i have to agree with that...

...and you can get em cheaper than that. I paid £450 for my pair.

Hmm looks like its gonna be about £700. Prob gona need another £500 after selling my decks then

Nope its £700 for 2 CDJ100s and a DJM300 mixer. Anyone know if the DJM300 is any good? Considering going for this setup.

i bought one for my cdj100's two weeks ago. it is easy to use and makes quite simple. the best feature is probably the channel/xfader thingy. don't know what it's called, but say you use the channel, as soon as you move the selected channel's fader up, the cdj starts automatically at the cue point. likewise for the crossfader, but it just works on the crossfader instead of the channel fader.

it's okay, good sound and clear output and beatcounters as well.

Not looking for anything over-complicated as Im just starting to learn really. Think this setup is gonna do the job.

i have to agreee that the pioneers are excelent decks to play with...

i however have the gemini cdj20, there good decks (if you try not to expect too much of them) and bloody cheap compaired to the pioneers, £200 each. you wont find them for any less money due to gemini always having a set price.

Thats my set up at home mate and it's perfect. Crystal clear sound and u wont need to upgrade anything for a good few years!

Enjoy!

I;ve just had the same problem as you. Ended up getting two Numark Axis-8's. they are about the same price as the Pioneer CDJ 100's but better for a few reasons (in my opinion) cos they have more effects and features but mainly due to pioneer being really shit when thing go wrong - repairs can be very expensive and take ages (has been mentioned in threads before).

Axis 8's have just been discontinued which is why you can get them well cheap from http://www.dance-village.co.uk/index.asp (£550 for a pair (if you ask nicely) down from £800).

Anways ask about and play the shops off agianst each other. And remember

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DO NOT BUY FROM SAPPHIRES!!!!!!!!!!! (www.decks.co.uk)

They fucked up my order really badly when I tried ordering my Axis 8's from them. "sorry sir we dont actually have them in stock" - in that case how come you debeted my account then??? They then fucked me around for days - STAY AWAY!

Not if you hunt around a bit - got mine for less than £300 for the pair.

I phoned around and managed to get a pair of Numark axis 2's for £300 inc free next day delivery and two years warrinty..and..to open up an old debate..their better than pioneer!
