Suppose it depends how much distortion you've put on, and whether its still editable. If it is try less distortion, cos distortion will naturally boost the level and introduce lots of compression. However if you've rendered it with disto on and lost the original then I guess its knitting for you....
 
so basically its a case of finding the happy medium, thought as much. why cant they put the dist before the amp envelope? that would sort out the problem right there. this is why i wanna buy reaktor, cos then i can put the distortion before the amp envelope :punk:
 
resample your synth note, distorted as you choose

if your using vsti, nice on the processor too

then you can add filters and amp envelopes and whatever you want after the distrtion

use kontakt, its the.

Yeah. That was pretty much my instinct too.

Its not something I ever do tho, not my style for some reason, tho i weirdly wish it was sometimes :blink:
