Hardware conflictions

[Abstraction]

Does anyone have experience with using a M-Audio Delta 44 with windows XP. im having real problems.
so far ive installed the drivers and changed the defualt sound device to the delta 44 and it just doesnt work. the only noise ive managed to get out of it is a constant taptaptaptaptap that wont stop. it sounds like theres a bloody woodpecker in my speakers.

Does your mobo have onboard sound? Have you disabled it in the bios? Might be conflict with onboard chip. Some will work with additional cards, loads won't.
