Has anyone used cheapo OEM PID controllers (e.g. Rex C100, STC1000)?

They are commonly used for brewing, kilning, fish keeping, sous vide, egg incubation at home.

If so any problems encountered- switching interference, fires, loud bangs?

I've bought a Rex C100 (<£10) to run soil-warming cables to start off tropical seeds.

It works fine. Chilli seeds germinated in 2 days, bread rose in cold weather.
