– Welcome Kostas to psyland.live web radio. Thank you for accepting our invitation to this interview.
– Tell us a few words about you and about your first encounter with psychedelic trance music.
– Hello, wish you all the best with your new web radio project and have a good start.
With the psychedelic trance culture, I had my first “touch” in 1993 in London.
Before that I was dj, exploring various underground rave music genres.
My first gig at a big party as a dj was in 1991 in Athens, in the legendary Sunrise parties.
I start to create my own music in 1995 and since then many projects and collaborations have been created.
My first album with the name Initia was in 2002.
Archaic project was born around 2004 and first Archaic album in 2008 on Wildthings records.
Additionally, many other releases came after that in various compilations and V.As.
Avaris project was born around 2006 as an alternative experimental psychedelic downtempo project,
in which I can express myself freely and without being in a specific genre.
The first Avaris album was in 2018.
– What about what is happening nowadays? After one year of general “pause” due to corona virus, how do you see the future of the psychedelic trance scene?
– The psy trance scene has already existed for a couple of decades, with the “ups and the downs”
the difference from nowadays with the older “golden” years (like the 90’s of this culture) are that the people of that years had very strong life-changing experiences and impacts in their lives almost forever because of that, this culture not only survived but grew very big the next years till now.
In conclusion, what happening now with this “health emergency state” we live in has an impact on all music genres and on all people's life activities and is not about the future of the music, but mostly is about our freedom and rights. If we continue to be humans or not. Psychedelic music has to do about freedom and love, not about fear.
– You spend too many hours in the studio I guess! What inspires you to create?
– Music is my life, I am never counting hours and days. Nature and Mythology are the biggest inspiration sources for me.
– Recently you joined Pralayah Records, how do you feel about that?
– I have already my first E.P there and already doing a new album. Pralayah guys have a great vision about music and quality.
– After all these years we can count many amazing albums in different music genres. Are you currently working on anything new?
– Firstly, I have my new project “NightBirds” first E.P, which will be released on Samaa records this June 21. Secondly, I am preparing a new Archaic album for Pralayah later this year!

Archaic’s music background starts with the punk age of the 80s and later with the first underground rave culture at the end of the 80’s.
He got in love with psychedelic trance music in the early 90’s after a couple of “summers of love” and underground parties in England!
Around 1996 he started to experiment and write his own music alone and with friends, creating tracks that only exist on DAT tapes.
In 2002 he released his first solo album “Shining Beings”, under the name “Initia”.
Since then he never stopped exploring his passion for music and composition & in year 2005 Archaic project was born!
In 2008 the first Archaic album “Wildness” was released. The music had massa ive response and many other releases came after that, making his music even more known to the international psy-trance community.
After the first album two more followed, the second “Sonic Driving” in 2011 and the third one titled “Mountain Powers” was released in 2018.
Several E.P’s and many other single releases on various compilations kept on releasing till date.
The Musical Path continues and expands the Sonic Territories with fresh flavors, colors, and new soundscapes, which can be sometimes unusual and weird places out of our ordinary reality, however seeking harmony and balance.
Archaic’s music is intense and reveals fine harmony, between prodigious depths and magical elevations of sound, its empowering and truly alive, created to bring you in a non-ordinary dance state, to reveal directions to your own source of power. “It is the magic in us”!
