got lent a √irus the other day and I got it hooked up to logic, I copied all the presets to logic with sounddiver, everything is cool but when I play it some kind of weird loop thing happens. If I hit C3 for instance a stream of C3 notes of similar length get played in rapid succession, I was going to post a midi file but it looks like attachments are not working for now. Anyhow if I unplug the midi out of the virus this problem doesn't happen, if I plug the midi back in nothing happens until I hit a key and then a stream of midi again. I think it has something to do with the virus and is probably some kind of menu preset but I don't have the manual and I can't work it out from the menu either, btw it is a virus classic. It seem like midi thru is on and the messages are going back into logic and around in to the virus again and so on and so forth.

Any help would be appreciated.

I see attaching is back so here is that midi file, it is basically me playing four notes down the scale. I have been playing the virus with Numerology and the looping glitch doesn't happen so I am now thinking the problem is Logic is routing the notes back into the virus creating a feed back loop thingy.

Maybe I should ask this question in the Logic forums.

midi through ?

I know thats how you get yourself in the nasty loop thingy -

you play a note - the pc then sends it back to your k/b via the midi through loop - either turn that off or leave the midi out cable outa the virus ( unless you are trying to record midi notes )

I get round this in logic coz I have a midi sport 4*4 - it has 4 seperate midi circuits - so I take the in midi cable from one of the circuits (ie midi port a ) to the synth but the out midi cable from the synth goes to a different cicuit on the box ( ie midi port b )- removing the loop problem - so I play the k/b off one strip in logic and record onto another one -

have you just got one midi circuit ?

feel free to tell me I'm wrong here anyone - I am by no means an authority on this subject !

jz

hmmmm - not sure now - you could have a different problem - try it ..

.. could be the "soft thru" setting on the virus too .......

I am thinking the problem is within Logic now and I should be able to track it down. Thought it was the Virus and I have no manual for that but thanks for the advice on the multi midi interface, come to think of it I do have two midi "circuts", hmmmm.

yeah - there is a soft thru setting in logic - I think if you turn this off then the pc wont trasmit what it receives .... that would do it .....
