To record or make them?

Traktor's great for making them, and I've heard good things about DJDecks (http://http://www.djdecks.be/) too - but these don't record them as such.

I'd recommend Sound Forge or Cool Edit/Adobe Audition for the task, but there are plenty of free ones about... this one seems good - http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/ .

He, reminds me of when I first started mixing.

I'd record 3 tracks that mixed by hand properly onto CD-R and then another three tracks and so on, because for a long time my beat matching was ... flawed. I was always trying to mix when I was kaned, and on my shitty CDJ1000's from pioneer it just divides the decks to one per channel. So in my adled state I was just hearing two totally disparate pieces of music. I couldn't figure out how to link them up. I'd be there thinking 'Yeah! that's rock solid' only to move the cross fader and buzz kch ch erk. Anyhow. The 3 track mix trick meant that I could mix any of my tunes, but if the mix went pear shaped I could always back out and try again.

*back on topic*

If you just want to record your mix from decks into your PC, then I'd go for audacity, which is a freeware audio editor, it is really easy to figure out how to plug things into your PC, and it sounds good, comes with everything you need to master the track.

Well i want to record my set directly from my pioneer's and mixer, with tracktor is a bit like cheating. from what i can understand it's better to use something like sound forge nah? I have it plus cubase and tracktor. is anyone already using the last tracktor with a remote controller, cause from what i could understand we can use a midi controller nah? But when i go to the options i dont get it, i press learn and nothing.

Nah, just record your mix from your decks into sound forge. Compress and EQ a little jpb done. If you already have 'proper' decks then I wouldn't mess about with traktor. Stick with the 'real deal'.

Also I wouldn't want to EQ or compress anything as you'll only make the music sound bad, and you have no idea of what the listener will be hearing your CD on. If you can't handle your levels properly then you need to practise your skills more before you let other people listen to your mixes. If you want to hear the tracks with more bass, turn it up on your hi-fi, not on the mixer or in Sound Forge.

I dont want to sound like a Pro but i just want to record straight from the mixer it's already fine, believe me... of course i have eq and no i dont want to compress or anything else... of course... Im satisfied about my question, but now ...
Is anyone using tracktor??? How do i put my midi to turn knobs??

Ableton is different mate... i would never put tracks on there just to beat match or whatever..... it's awesome and i repeat awesome tool to do live, but that's when you have a breakdown of a track... well maybe you already now but imagine you have a song and it's divided by the kick, snares, percussions, leads, pads, motiffs you can constantly be changing the tipe of sound and pitch and it seams you are playing different songs... and the best function of them all is the fixed tempo... yuuupi you can put any loop and it will be fixed to your master tempo...
I have never tried a live with ableton and psy, but acid techno.... mate it's awesome ....
And laptop mixing should be banned, you stay to much time in front of the laptop and you cant do the same effects....... i bet you love the sinc function on tracktor isn'it ... well leave it .... do it on a real mixer...
Listen monkey do when you do your mixes on psystream, what do you use???
It's a nice radio... a bit repetitive sometimes, but good, keep the good work. Like your sound...

I'm actually scared of technology so I have a special deal with most record labels where they will provide me their releases on wax cylinders. Knackers my arms out winding the players for 4 hours every thursday night but frankly anything else is cheating.

You don't get the same warmth of sound with these new fangled plastic discs, although I really wish I could still get hold of new releases on tinfoil. There's something about the feel of tin
