Multimedia projectors

Help! I'm thinking of going all out and buying a projector, for visuals, home cinima and doom 3 =)
what should i look for? i've got about 1200 to spend on one max, but would be happy spending alot less if i'll get what i need,
anyone know much about this?

Thanks for the helpfull PM's guys, I've decided to get the BenQ 6210, 1024x768 native res, 2000:1 contrast ratio and 2000 ansi lumins brightness, it's about a grand and i cant wait for it to arrive!!!
