The Doepfer's A-125 Phase Shifter sounds great, I don't mind that little bit of noise it adds, but its mono.

Shit hot isn't it. It is a noisy bastard but it sounds unlike any other phaser I've heard. Another would be fab [for stereo] but that would mean buying another Doepfer rack, and then having to fill the spaces with more lovely modules - and possibly starving to death in the meantime.

Bah.

SIR is a bit of a special case

it introduces a fixed delay - this is why I dont use it, even tho its clearly a billion times better than any other native verb i have - i guess what Ott is complaining about also.
what do u mean by 'fixed delay'? You can alter the envelope of the delay for different predelay, decay lengths, etc. Or is that not what u are getting at?

Is the latency so much of an issue when used subtley as a send effect?

Sax.

AC put it very well :)

Use SX2 with PDC and only turn it on when mixing down.

That's what all the other SX2 users do.

Latency - no big problem.

As for the zero latency thing. That's what it says on the site - only repeating it!

;)

You're all feeling a bit pedantic today eh? I don't think he *really* means zero - probably closer to it.

Oh mate.

welcome to psy-forum

Hehe - I'm a veteran of mailing lists. I know what on-line communities are like.

:D

The 604 list made me into the man I am today!

:D :D :D

Dooooooh!
You're right, my tone was a bit pedantic. Well, not 'pedantic' so much as 'pernickety', or maybe even 'punctilious' (if I'm being pedantic about it)
I dunno, sometimes I just can't help it.
Still its only the internet, none of you are real.

Rather than using a variable latency dependent on how complex the algorithm is, SIR uses a fixed 'worst-case' latency. This is handy because you know what it is, and you can delay your other tracks by this number of samples to fit.

cheers!
