Si Splatt

has Mr Splatt got any mixes online?

(laughs)..
That exchange i quoted was three posts ago ;)

...but in answer to your question: He hasn't got any mixes online, so no links im afraid :)

.....I'll be doing the rigging at this years Shamania Chill stage (Bez and Si are organising it), so i'll record his set then...

Shhhhhh!!!...no-one tell him!!!

;)

i'm not really interested in whether someone is a dj or a live act or signed to a record label (which seems to be what psy-trance parties revolve around these days)..i just want to be entertained and taken on a journey which Si has done everytime i've heard him play, his sets are always origional, diverse and very interesting...

why he doesn't get invited/booked to play at other parties/festivals outside the north is beyond me..

Probably too far off the edge of the radar. Nearly 4 months away.

I certainly wouldn't call him lazy. Maybe not the most organised guy, but definitely not lazy. You should see the amount of work he puts in setting up Cabbage!

Maybe he's happy with the regular slot with us and the odd gig outside that when invited? Perhaps he doesn't want to be gigging every weekend? I don't know, but I can understand that take on things if my guesses are correct.

he has turned down a fair few "high profile" gigs...but i hear from "sources unknown" that he may be "in talks" with some folk about playing a london gig in the near(ish) future

we may also be in the process of persuading him to do the mix for a proposed chill dvd/download we are working on at the moment

lovely bloke...spot on taste in tunes too

absolutely

and yes Chris the 'one of the least ego driven d.j.'s around' is also very true

i wasn't expecting him to push himself to play anywhere, i just thought that with so many people from all over getting invited to play at Cabbage/up north would have heard him play and thought "wow.. he's good..i'll ask him to come and play at my party"

i would if i was a promoter

:ismile:

Doesn't work that way though it seems...

I had a conversation with someone last night on a not dissimilar situation with Pascal / OVNI.

A few years ago, we were doing regular London dates - like every month at Mindscapes at the Drome, but these days, nothing doing. Again - top bloke, doing interesting and different material (IMO) with a retro-ish feel - all live too (with me as optional add-on muso), with no laptops, but I think we're the only crew giving him a regular slot.

To be fair though, we're not expecting reciprocal gigs. We like bringing people here from up and down the country to give people a change to see acts they'd otherwise have to travel to the big smoke for. Those acts invariably comment that the Northern gigs are like a breath of fresh air. ;)

yeah Si's a top guy! and great DJ and all, seen his chill sets at cabbage a couple of times which always sounded nice, but i REALLY got into his mainroom wobbley, trippy trance grooves at the Messmedia New Year party a couple of years back. Ive been trying to get him to play a Trance set for us at Soma Sonic ever since!!! hes always busy when were doin stuff tho! ....Some day!!! :P

we had him to SDSS a few times....and to a few outdoors,
....but it generally takes a LOT of advanced warning.
Quite often because, (as ChrisCabbage pointed out), the thought that goes into his sets aint just a week (or indeed a months) work :)
