Definitely steer clear of Jo'burg if you're looking for a fun time. We were stuck there for 3 days after the eclipse party last year and boy do I wish we'd gone to Cape Town instead.

Is there any reason you're going up or near Jo'burg. If not, got up the east coast towards Durban, called the Garden route! Really special!

I take it Jo'burg isnt that great a place! Does nothing happen there or is it a dump?? I only have to go to Jo'burg cos thats where our flights are from. The wedding (the reason Im going) is happening in Cape Town.

    Cheers for the advice all..

Cape Town is where the hippies are.

Jo'burg is where everything is in malls, you have to get driven everywhere, barbed wire, armed response signs. Don't go to Jo'burg.

yeah..sounds about right, but you'll need a car to get round cape town aswell cos the public transport is up to shit unless you want to take your chances in the african style minibus taxis :lol1:

Hey spud-I'll take you around tha bends but you'll have to hire tha car.
Oh you can walk around CapeTown but if you want to party you will need a vehicle to get there (outdoors).
You can try hitching but you might not get to where ya wanna b seen.
Otherwise most ppl are very friendly.
    :hehe:

hey subbie soz mate didnt see your posts before we left.

had a wicked time tho. superb country! absolutely fell in love with it.

i ended up spending more time in joburg that i wuz planning cos my mate fell in love with a joburger and insisted that we head there rather than durban... then i lost my passport and had to hang around for a few more days. still had a good time there.. did the strongest pills ever at this club there... either we wuz lucky or africa has the best drugs.. not sure..

and weed.. oh the weed... stuff is fuckin everywhere!! and so cheap! it wuz like id died and gone to heaven.. i learnt a new method of skinning up using garlic skins at this rasta place. will come in very handy if i ever run out of skins. got arrested the first day we were in cape town for smokin a doob with some dudes on the street.. pretty surreal.

yeah deffo a top country.. i will be back!

Cape Town is the BOMB!! Damn, I haven't been home in nearly 5 years and i miss our greenery and sea and just the whole beauty of the place....
Crime is rampant, but not as bad as Jo'burg.... but do beware of the nigerians...
Be careful where u buy your 'rugs......and do take the Garden route- well beautiful trip.
Synergy vs. Vortex at The River Club for NYE should be good(if it still happens there).
Don hitchike......and don't use the trains either....
and DO try to blend in - tourists are big targets for thieves
