The new Eskimo album!

For me the funny thing is, his first CD (Can you pick me up?) was much better and mature than the second one. Musically it was way smarter, with lots of variation in single track and plenty of tiny little details and things you'd discover only after repeated listening. I still listen to the tracks like Scorpion, Does this look infected, Dirty Trancing or Can you pick me up? and they're storming!

I think, at the time his first CD was released it was the best full on album out! You could hear that this guy is not only technically brilliant, but also has some musical background and imagination, unlike most of bedroom dj's making "tunes" on their dodgy cracked Cubase... But the second album lacks a lot of that magic: there is no more interesting technical hooks, musically it is very straightforward and predictable. In my ears some of the melodies sound totally out of tune, some bass lines seem like they're from another tune with no connection with other layers.

I hope he's next album will be better, because I can see the potential is there...

sorry to say this, but i thought his set at the glade was boring, predictable, unimaginative tripe - build, build, build, gonna break..gonna break..gonna break...not quite yet...almost there.....and finally....no not quite yet......................

.........break - into boring ploddy trance

agree. good laugh anyway, can't complain about glade :)

When it's ready, and not a moment before.
The reason I always play my cards close to my chest in situations like this is because I want to produce good music.
I'd like to create a sound that is chunky, but relatively unique - with a bit of madness thrown in for good measure

Fair play to you Joe. .. .. .but... do you think you're being objective? Is the artist himself the best person to decide when his stuff is ready?
I know you're a perfectionist so the danger is that you'll never produce anything which you think is up to scratch. I was like that for a long time, then I just thought sod it, get some stuff out on the web and get peoples feedback.
Thats how I know my stuff isn't ready, cos of all the people who've told me

For the record i thought take a look out there was good, but not as good as i remember him sounding from the glade.

i remember his set at the glade going::: start-stop-start-stop-start-stop-start-stop the whole way through pretty much.
just needed to let the people dance insteada doin 'big' breaks and 'building it up'. Frustrated the hell outta me.
i dont rate his stuff, theres a couple of ok tunes, some v.nice moments in some parts but nothing spesh....IMO...... :P

fairy snuff. I danced like a lunatic monkey on base for his set, 'tis horses for courses i guess. He does use a lot of breaks, but i personally think they are so well made that im happpy to take a break from dancing for a second and listen to them.
I can see why some people don't think some of his stuff doesn't really fit into psytrance, more hard trance or something, but as fas as care, if it sounds good in my head, and makes me want to dance then its good, no matter what genre it happens to fall into.

Oh fuck.

Now I've got a reputation to uphold. Never had one of them.

From now, Apologies for anything I do that's crap (and there will be a lot of it),

I've gotta agree with the bad comments on 'Take a look out there'. I think its well commercial and is one of the albums (with his many more to come) that will slowly ruin psy trance!!!
Its got the essence of propper psychedelic in places but its made to appeal to everyone with its overly big build ups definitley making it appeal to the mainstream!
I compare it to commercial trance in the sense that you know exactly what your gonna get - but granted he does always give you a dose of what you want. But when you always know whats coming doesnt it take a bit of the fun away from it when it does?? It certainly does for me. An element of suprise would be nice, or good progression rather than just wackin in a shit sample that goes on for too long and then being done with it.
Dont get me wrong - i do like bits of pretty much every tune on the album but i just think he doesnt get them into a propper song context because of the fact he's allways trying to make it appeal.
