Came up with a top ten for my web page (slowly getting some content up there!) and though i'd see what you lot thought :)

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stephen.adam/Sketchies/charts.html

1
Reality Hack
Psychaos
One of the first psy tracks I heard. Twisted, layered and banging - i've been hooked ever since :)

2
X-Files
Chakra & Edi Mis
One of the first psy tracks I heard. Twisted, layered and banging - i've been hooked ever since :)

3
The Fly
Cat On Mushroom
This is the tune that got me into the dark stuff. More twisted than a well used rubix cube, nice.

4
Psycho
Infected Mushroom
Although Infected bashing seems to have turned into some kinda psy trance sport this tune and to be honest the rest of the album rocks. "you, you... psycho!"

5
LSD
Hallucinogen
The Twisted album was allot of peoples first taste of psy, and i was no exception. This track was the one which sents shivers down my spine and give me a moment of satori in which I realised i'd been listing to the wrong music. Classic.

6
Travelling At The Speed Of Thought
The Delta
The Delta have been bridging the gap between techno and psy trance for seven years now. This was one of the first tunes they did, deep hard and psychedlic this track still sounds good today. Also the name of a tune by the Ultramagnetic MC's (coincidence?)

7
Drugs and babes
Synchro
This is off Science Friction one of the most inventive and original psy albums ever. It's got break beat and D&B influences with squeltchy base lines and funky beats. Definetly worth getting hold of!

8
Angelina
Doof
Trying to pick out a favourite tune from Doofs "Lets Turn On" is a damn tricky job as it is consistantly amazing. Ranging from the full on goa bliss of Angelina to the sublimely chilled out Sun Shrine this is a very much underated classic.

9
Cor!
Green Nuns Of The Revolution
Screaming, searing, psychedelic madness. Cor! has a ripping tounge in cheeck guitar over the top of a 303 which sounds like its gone crazy. Mental stuff!

10
Purple Squirt Jam
Eat Static
Chunky, funky and technowy East Static are often seen as a psy trance act, though they dont really fit into any one catagory easly. This my favourite tune, going from four techno beat to breaks with devestating consequences if used on a dance floor!

Absolutely Brillant Tops Steve, I would have probably put a good few of them in my all time tops too. You can tell you've sat and thought about it.

X Files, absolutely classic.
The Fly, crazy noises.
Psycho, the live mix is the one, class of there own.
LSD, nuff said.
Drugs And Babes, total agreement that album was really inventive, this is one of the first psy choons I played out.
Cor, what an absolute ripper
Purple Squirt Jam, acid techno breaks , witnessed this one live a couple of times, brain damaging!

I don't fink my current taste is that close to yours, but old stuff it is. could make an all time classic top, but I reckon you have hit the nail on the head.
That is a mix tape we need to record!! :)

Of an Ilk...

F*#K me ! The Fly was an absolute scorching, hellish nightmare... TUNE!

1> Montoya remix - infected
2> Mindhunter - Cydonia/Schuldt
3> Pacemaker - Groupie Syndrome
4> Techno prisoners - Phreakey
5> Tango Electro - Avi, Dino, Ofer and Joti??
6> Soothsayer rmx - Hallucinogen
7> Psychomachines - Xdream
8> Electronic uncertainty - Psychaos
9> Comming Soon - X-Dream
10>Rotorblade - Juno Reactor

:goodthre:

Always nice to compare classics!

You guys are definately right about the Synchro album - unique stuff and never done quite as well after. (not even by the man himself)

Zaven > Tango Electro - ahh that brings back some memories too!

In no particular order of favouritism:

1 Psychopod - Dreampod
it just lifts higher and higher, hasn't really aged much either

2 Hallucinogen - Magik
IHMO best hallucinogen tune, deep and atmospheric

3 Juno Reactor - Jardin de Cecile
that strange, haunting melody does it for me

4 Manmademan - Gold Dust
the climax - complete acid phunk freakout! never bettered.

5 Laughing Buddha - Tapu
phattest laughing buddha track, great kick, beautiful combination of funky riffs and melodies

6 Spawn - Trouble
hallucinogen and process came up with the best track in the twisted catalogue, it's freaky but friendly at the same time

7 Tristan - Perimeter
deep sc-fi tekk - the build up of tension here is just amazing, and it is never released... just keeps you on "the verge". excellent!

8 Astral & DJ Jorg - Cosmic Ascension
less cheesy than most astral tracks, a great ride into dancefloor bliss.

9 Shiva Chandra - Essence
atmospheric masterpiece with violins from the purveyor of minimal psy. he's still the king.

10 Double Dragon - Soft Machine
deep and tripped out - the samples about the laws of causality no longer applying - this sent me into orbit!

those that didn't make it, but were considered (so they do deserve a mention): doof - sunshrine, cosmosis - key to the innerverse, process & slide - creepy crawly, tarsis - the snake, green nuns - green nunions, deedrah - reload, captain unplugged - ignore alien orders, koxbox - life is.

no Infected for me tho, not cos I don't appreciate the music, but it's such a different vibe from the rest I wouldn't really call their music goa or psy, just "hard trance with a twist"

nice lists here, brings back a few memories for sure:

mine would go smthing like this:

>phreaky - tornado (fuck! basically)

>green nuns - large megallanic cloud (oooohh for a 303)

>the groupie syndrome - pacemaker (tim and x dream, what's not to like??)

>x dream - we created our own happiness (never going to get this out of my head!)

>pleadians - maia (kicking.. more please)

>total eclipse - waiting for a new life (if i could discover just one of those things etc etc classic)

>astral projection - powergen (why didn't they carry on making stuff this good?)

>the infinity project - feeling weird (retro)

>tarsis - into the static (drifting towards the start of prog)

>hallucinogen - shamanix (nuff said!)

X-Dream - Psychomachine
X-Dream - Create Your Own Happiness
Groupie Syndrome - Pacemaker
Infected - Return of the Shadows
Bus - North by Northwest 6
Atmos - Klein Aber Doktor
Organic Noise - Power Supply
Vibrasphere - Airfield
PPS Project - Wave Drops
Tristan - Small Paper Squares

i'm cheating a bit, my memory doesn't stretch too far back and before 2001 i wasn't buying much music. X-Dream are fucking great and the Groupie Syndrome track is a monster.

Yo Drat, Defo Kewl 'n d'Gang tho!

Tristans track is a relentless groover. He's got such a distinct style that gets bigger and bigger. Very native. Stong and upstanding... Spesh when HE plays them himslef..

:clenchfistsgrinmiley:

Love these threads - Hallucinostalgium ahoy!

:sun:

:shrooms: :party2: :shrooms:

Oooh, lemme play...in no particular order

Doof - We Are Free
Probably the tune that ensured my Psytrance (Goa as it all was back then) obsession - "Keep repeating we are free, keep repeating we are free", it just grabs you and says this can be so much more than just about music.

Green Nuns - 2 Vindaloos.../Ring of Fire
Think I pretty much wore out the groove on that particular release

Slinky Wizard - Lunar Juice
"Everybody's OK so far" ...(but not for long because Slinky Wizard are just about to make them all explode with a complete rocket of a tune)

X-Dream - Panic In Paradise
Was a toss up between this and Our Own Happiness but this clinched it as we pretty much put it on repeat play for about 2 hours one New Years Day and still didn't manage to get tired of it.

Prana - Boundless
There were loads of great Prana tunes but for me this was probably the best one.

Shakta - Indra's Net
If ever a bass drum came from nowhere and booted you in the stomach like an angry skinhead this was it.

Hallucinogen - LSD
Although I always prefered the LSDoof remix *ducks*

Man With No Name - Floor Essence
I think it was the Black Light Mix that really toughened up the kick and roughed you right up.

I'm stopping at 8 'cos I've just realised how many more tunes I want to include and those are just the ones that spring to mind while I'm at work...Technossomy, Astral Projection, Total Eclipse, Medicine Drum, Cosmosis, Psychaos, Juno Reactor, Kox Box...how the hell am I supposed to choose?

It's Over Bloddy Flood m8 and it's by Blue Planet Corporation... Agreed Classic Atmospheric Beast!

What a thread! Ahh the memories!!

And Satori - Back to Earth, thanx for the reminder! Absolutely wicked tune!

Just to add up: Elysium-Monzoon

One of my all time favs! :sun:

And so many more...

:) There has been some damn fine tunes mentioned on this thread but there's a lot of stuff that I've never heard  'Over Bloody Flood' is a good track and so is Elysium's 'Monzoon'

Here are 10 of my retro classics but they're not in any order:-

'Biocandy' - Chi-A.D. which is a seriously good track. It was released on vinyl in 1999 on my old label Blue Moon Productions UK. Gets me dancing every time. It's a very well constructed track - well done Dave Young

'Deep Space 5D' - Dimension 5 is on their 1st album 'Transdimensional' which was released in 1997, but it was released before that as a 12" vinyl on Intastella Records. The whole album is good but I paticularly like this track. It's a shame that Nick, Charlie, Kerry & Graham split up because now they can't make any inspired music like this but they could no longer work together in the studio.

'Licence To Slink' - Slinky Wizard which I've got on a double CD called 'Goa-Head volume 4' released in 1997 :D Every time I listen to this track I think back to the time when about 15 of us went to a fairly local venue for a night out. There was hardly anyone there except us so the DJs played Goa Trance all night :D About half way through the nite I got out some toy guns that fire foam pellets, with which it was impossible to hurt anyone, and we all played a mad game whilst totally trashed on f*$k knows what :lol1:

'Lollipop Man' - Union Jack which is on Platipus Records Volume 1 which I brought in 1996. This is an amazing tune :wow:

'Essentials' - Deedrah which is on his album titled 'Self Oscillation' which was released in 1997. This track is only 1min 39 Secs long but whenever I listen to it I always imagine a contempary ballet group doing a flouro ballet to a full length version of it

V.T.O.L. - Technossomy from the album 'Synthetic Flesh'. Does anyone have a spare copy of 'Synthetic Flesh' on CD because my copy disappeared :sob: :sob:

'Darshannon' - Celtic Cross which is on the album 'Hicksville' which was an LSD/Dragonfly release in 1998ish. I think that it's a blinding track :punk:

'Rain' - X-Dream which is on 'Dementertainment' compilation that came out on Twisted in 1998 :partysmi:

'Kundalini' - OOOD which I have a white label copy of. It also appears on the compilation ' Fill Your head with Phantasm 3' on Phantasm Records :smoke:

'Gamma Goblins Part 2' - Hallucinogen - need I say more

I think that someone should organise a retro night out and not allow ppl to play anything less than 5 years old :lol1: If they did then I would go for a laugh :jump:

Do that and you'd have a real tough job getting Full Lotus off the decks, I tell you.
