Recieved this last nite and wow!
Excellent Quality from Twisted, Quality oozes from every little silver sparkle on the discs surface!! top job artwork as well, nicely presented!
First Thoughts:
YOUNGER BROTHER = An amazing building track, fluid and flowing, with sooo many lush textures to it! Some sounding synthesised and some much more real! Not too fast and not too slow, nice tempo, more down to the programming than the bpm... Totally Twisted sound and a big preview of the next album?
AUDIO CHEMISTRY = already on Joti's album, a really powerful beast, biggest bassline on the CD ((from joti)), and therefore probably the most dance floor power with those twisted samples about the arms, ((too much acid I rekon!))
HALLUCINOGEN & TRISTAN = mental mental chicken oriental, the track of the compilation (err except mental sharon), super stretched messed up vocal intro, completely awesome, really stretchy and morphed out track excellent quality, Posford's morphing growler bassline, with a building arped bit in the second half, dare I say the first proper hallucinogen track since..... err a long while back
PROMETHEUS = completely sublime, grown up kinda track, ease's you in and builds on that, quite on it by the end! Lush insane squiggly high end riff at the end, is it named after the Oscar synth? I expect so! I prefer this to the album work, easier to listen to... well staged, and comfortably produced, i.e. easier on the ears.
TRISTAN = arranged around some real guitaring, ((obviosly twisted wouldn't do a generic heavy metal guitar sample CD track... you know the type big bassline, bit of guitar, big bassline bit of guitar....)) This is much more real, a bit of guitar and the psy bits kinda fit around it! Real good to listen to, well intelligent, and nice to hear a slightly different kinda idea, takes a couple of minutes to work its way up to speed, well impressed.
METAL SHARON = should be mental sharon, outstanding track from wiltshire\somersets finest pioneers!! just beating off hallucinogen and tristans track as the most twisted, ideas everwhere, screaming madness abound, so metallic and futuristic, Posford Growler bline even more growly, little creatures join in with cries and shouts out to their buddys! And a nutty more obvious centre piece emerges, crazy quick riff for the dancefloor, ((where is the repeat to infinity button??)), will be playing to everybody who comes to my house for the next ummm year or so!! We love U sharon

(err glad they choose a girls name, so I don't sound to gay) the more obvious riff arrives again towards the end, screamingly brilliant! Inspired Madness.
TRISTAN & PROMETHEUS = bit more linear, good psychedelic track, a bit dirty and grinding... a deeper more inward growing journey through an unheard of land, Seems a little washed out with bass distortion, not one I would wanna play on its own, but fits with the CD real well..
HIKIKOMORI = totally lush organic track, loadsa flowing pads and an excellent progression through the track, grows lives and shrinks away towards the end, bit slower and an excellent ending to the album, really well produced, don't know the guy from any previous work, but what an entrance to Twisted Records, straight in with the big boys, and comes off sounding... like he totally knows what he is doing! Not generic chill, still got a good solid 4/4 tempo...
Heard the album one or two tracks at a time, so need to sit down with nothing else going on and really hear the album as a whole, if it is anything like Unusual Suspects 1 it will sound more like an album of tracks than any other compilation I know!! Well Grown Up from the Twisted Boys (showing your age?? sorry)
Weighing at just under 60 Mins with Only 8 Tracks, with some labels compilations you would feel slightly short changed, but with this you feel as rich as a king!! Err Thanks Twisted. Can't wait to get home and listen again!
