I've been reading some great imformative (although most of it flew over my head) post's about making toooonage.... thing is......

I'm a bit of a video/light kinda dude :P

we work with this guy - i could tell you his kit list in the vaguest possible sense but thats about all i know! i just let him get on with it :hehe: and usually dont even get to see it (backdrops typically being behind me) :?

Have been making computer graphics for the last twenty years, and been vj'ing
for five.
Willing to help with anyone's questions... point in the right direction... etc...
Always looking to make friends with other visual techno geeks....

Im currently working on a little system to do this sort of thing. A fully scriptable modular engine that offloads all hardwork onto the graphics card leaving the CPU free to do all sorts of hardcore model generation (And with a gig of high speed RAM and an Athlon 64 behind it all its surprising what you could generate). Also found its possible (on an Athlon 1800+) to get 6 videos streaming of harddisk with simple additive mixing (there is so much spare graphics time available that far more hardcore 2D convolution filters are possible).

I'm a long way off getting it going though ... just don't have the time. But im redundant from the end of february so may have a bit of spare time ;)

heh itll get there eventually dood [dont worry im gonna keep harassing you till it its done !!!]

oh... potential realtime turntable scratch control hooked in if I get this MSP shizzle on the go ? :) :)

SGC roadshow.. comin soon to a party nr u aiiiight !! ;)

peace,
m

On a VJ note, has anybody got any nice trippy visuals with fairies and clouds and trees and stuff cos I saw some amazing stuff on the screens there but there was also hitler on the screen which wasnt nice. Any links to places I can download nice stuff?????

I'm looking for some software that you can 'mix' films just as you would mix music, what's the best way to do this on a pretty good vaio?

youd have to rip the film from a dvd or something, and then convert the bits you want to avis or movs and then you could mix the files using a vj app..

I don't know anything about this field, but I love visuals and think they really make a difference to a good party/gig.
I'm in a psychedelic funk band (called Jaberwok) and we gig in and around Oxford and London. We have a guy that puts up his fluoro paintings behind us, but have no projections as yet. If anyone's interested in trying out their ideas, practising, or indeed joining us more full-time, then let me know (PM is fine). We would contribute from any money that we made on the night.
We've got a good gig coming up at 93 Feet East on the 6th Feb in aid of the Tsunami Earthquake Appeal. A nice venue if anyone wants to try it out.

Dezi- Have a look here.... http://www.resolume.com/footage/index.php

Ant- you could have a look at the vj app available for download (trial) on the resolume site above! There's loads of software to have a play about with, then choose the one you like best! ;)

Rorymonster-Would love to help out dude, but i'm just not there yet :? .....Could send you some relevant link's though...sure you could sort something out!
check out some of the vj's on vjcentral...... :wizard1:

Hey Rorymonster
I mix video images together to create trippy visuals, also using a video camera to create feedback effects, subject matter includes nature shamanism psychedelia heaven and hell,
love to do backdrops for bands of a psychedelic nature, spent a few years in Oz with these guys ww.paganlovecult.com running projections and magic, check it out, maybe some of you have met them, lucky peeps sitting under the shade of an acacia!
i am in the Uk for the summer at least and am interested in work in london or bristol and festivals etc,I am willing to do some stuff very cheaply as i sell my hand blown glass pipes and stuff when i'm gigging,

if you go to the resolume site you can download a fully functional 14day demo - when it expires just download it again - easy!
