Hello all!

now that mp3.com has gone pear shaped, is there anywhere that i can upload tracks to anymore?

its been a while since i was online, and all my favourite sites have shut down, or are being 'remodelled' :sob:

i just wanna get some feedback on my tracks b4 i embaress myself by sending them into labels!

any ideas anyone?

help!

well, there was this website i heard of once, but i dont think it was very good. it was some forum full of wankers... er what was it called.... pie-forum?... no, err,.....fly-forum?.... oh wait i remember, PSY-FORUM! just find some free webspace, upload your tracks, then go into the special page at the top of the media and production bit (aptly named "artist tunes and DJ mixes go here") and post a link to your tracks. theres loads of peeps here that know what theyre doing and give really helpful feedback so its worth the effort :)
cant wait to hear your tunes :punk:

hah!

that'll teach me!

point taken - that was a ridiculous question!

have now found soundclick.com the url is ...

http://www.soundclick.com/speakafreaka

there is only one (unfinished) track on it at the moment if anyone feels like giving feedback - or just what the hell that final lead is missing!

cheers guys and gals!

also if i post anything that dumb again, please kill me!

Hyperdrive! is a brilliant track!

The main problem with it is that the whole track is too loud - it's overdriven, I can hear the way the kick is overdriven so much that it's cutting into everything else in the track. You need to re-export the whole project from Cubase again. This time make sure that there are no parts which are too loud - they shouldn't be touching red in the level indicators in the mixer - and the main-out shouldn't be hitting red either.

Actually, as long as you're using VST 5 or above, you can push the tracks as far past 0 as you want, as long as the master out isn't going into the red (i.e. is turned down accordingly).

Note that though I said you *can* doesn't mean you should.

P.S. Speakafreaka - would that be Farnham, Surrey perchance?

you are both right!

yes - it is impossible to overdrive a mixer in cubase sl...

but the kick is far to loud in the mix, and blocking everything else out! it is also somewhat distorted, which i thought i had got away with, but obviously not :D

that would be farnham, surrey perchance...

wherefore and why? :welcome:

Hey, you're the closest member I kow on this forum...! Farnborough here..! I've just got a new job, starting as soon as this cold/flu bug I'm having has gone. It's an Ice Cream Van Driver job, based in Farnham by the A31! At £7+ per hour, it's far better than my current Bar job at £4.50/hour.... :sun:

Maybe I could drive one down to an outdoor party or two in the summer?

Not bad, you need to work on the mix and make the whole tune a little more interesting, I was finding myself thinking "this is going on a bit" at the start. Wishy whooshy noises are great but you can't beat a bit more percusion, I would recomend a sample cd called No Kick loads of congas, hats funky stuff with um no kick. If people are telling you its ok to be seeing red when you mix your track the're wrong, start with your kick on 0db then mix your bass with that then hats percussion etc then everything else ,you'll find it works better, mess about with the compressors, set at 4.1 and bring the threshhold down on the kick 'til you can just hear something happening, try it on your bass too, EQ is important too keep your bass bassy, mids middy and the tops toppy. when you're happy with the mix bounce it and chuck it through some sort of mastering software, wave shell are good, Ultra maximiser is top.

Never said it was OK, never recommended it - I just said that it won't do any actual harm.
