Whinge thread for those upset about paying a £5 to park at glade

£5? It's costing me £30 to park my car there. Cheap bastards.

It was probably part of the license conditions that they had to take steps to ensure the number of cars was kept down. Might not have been even known about when the tickets were sold. Stop shouting stitch.

Well, Im so fucking sorry for asking a simple question of 'why'. Yes, I admit I went off on one initially but have calmed down...wud u like me to go edit all my posts?

I have said I dont have a letter and whilst everyone is spouting this that and the other, noones actually said what its for....oh, it might be fuel emissions, it might be space, it might be something else.

Sorry for speaking out on a public forum.

From the 'Official Glade Forum Whingeathon':

Hi Guys n Gals,

thank you for your thread regarding this subject. It was highly debated between us before it was decided as a plan of action.

The reason you were not told before is that it has only just been decided to do it. Partly to minimise traffic on the roads around the festival. The money from it (which won't be much) i can't inform as to where it will go at present as i don't know.

As i think Sico mentioned, the festival only happened last year because everyone did their part for a knock down fee. This year everyone is getting paid which has led to the festival budget being massively inflated. This is why the ticket price has gone up.

Psychedelic Acid Fairy, i can personally vouch for the well placed hearts of the people in charge of this festival. We are not money grabbing, capitalist marketing swines... everything we do is for a reason, and money is NOT top of the agenda. No one is going to 'get rich' doing this but it would be nice not to have to spend all our money and our time putting on a party for 8500 people and come out with enough to pay the bills, which at the moment is not looking that likely. You are quibbling over a fiver, which to be honest, would be the equivalent difference of just taking a train so you might want to consider that. We are sorry you weren't told before but neither were we.

Roof racks are an option as Smiffy pointed out.

canyouchangethedateplease has also hit the nail on the head... look at the line-up... you would pay ten/twenty quid in any club to go and see any five people from the lineup... you would pay a helluva lot more for drinks and it wouldn't be outdoors with all the extras that we provide.

Keeping the location secret is also vital to keeping the festival alive. Don't panic about not getting a letter... its not like you don't know ANYONE who is going.. think about how fast the word spreads for free party locations... you are not gonna have any trouble finding out where it is.

Right.... i think thats my work done... anyone wanna know anything else... send me a pm...

lots of love to you all and sorry for the controversy!

Si

Twas all I was asking... :)

if a further charge helps them steer clear of commercial sponsorship then I for one am all for it. imagine the Carling Glade Festival's carpark sponsored by NCP!!

Sorry to be negative, but ticket prices went up and now parking fees which shouldve been included in the price....just seems like theyre out to rinse everyones money before theyve even entered the festival.........

Well, then it might have been possible to just ask the question in a friendly way, not immediately assuming the organisers were scamming us!

Seems petty to be so worried about paying out a fiver, everyone is in the same boat, and as you said yourself, you are not even paying your entry. Best to accept what you cannot change. After all, we know what a great festie this is, why let the little details drag you down!

:badger:

its a fiver!! and its for the good of the planet!! ;) Its all good... Can you really see the people of Glade wanting to rip us off??? Surely we would be getting charged £125 for a ticket like Big Chill, If they wanted to do it for any Profit, I rekon this festival is done for the right reasons!!

well said .

From Glade. The Green charge explained

Firstly £5 is not a lot of money and the number of cars that will fall under
this charge is very minimal. Secondly this is not a greed thing but a

minimizing loss thing. Everyone did the festival for nothing last year and

this year everyone is getting paid. So far, the only people not getting

paid both years running are the organizers. So if you think there is a good

reason why the organizers should spend six months of their time and

thousands of pounds of their own money to put on a festival as good as this

one then please let me know what it is.

It is sad we could not tell you before but it has only recently been

decided. Also, this will hopefully discourage people from bringing cars at

all which can only be a good thing. We would rather they didn’t bring their

cars rather than come and give us a fiver for it. Due to the expansion of

the numbers involved, we are also worried about traffic and local residents

disturbance.

Greed has nothing to do with it. No one is getting rich in this equation

except some of the artists….

We are not doing this for the money… we love to party… but life if life and

we all gotta survive.

Fair enough?

All the best...

Simon

I think so..Mickey
