Women singing not folk

Mixed feelings about this one, but hey, cracking tune.

And as for this lady, well I wish I liked her music more! There is something really cool about her, plus I really like her voice, but I dunno. Much of it just doesn't gel, though I do like this track and reckon she is worth a mention.

Brighton’s finest Ellie Rowsell (Wolf Alice)

Norwegian siren Aroura who was eye opening at Glastonbury this year.

Dot! Wow, I haven't thought about her in a while. Don't know any of her solo work, but Morning Dove White would prove something of a seminal album for me, one I still take out for a spin from time-to-time. The first appearance of White Love is probably my favourite track, but I'm unexpectedly hungover today, so gonna nominate the fuzzier Cure. Cracking record - so underrated!

Ad endum, because technically it's Underworld, but this is utterly brilliant - seriously, if you're not familiar, turn it up to eleven, do not skip a second and you can thank me later - plus Dot's still in it, so...

Aah the 80s... Maggie Thatcher, Chernobyl, mass unemployment and this woman’s debut...

Jane from Rainbow was now a distant memory.
