Is there a way in Cubase or Live(or any sequencer, really) to have a master midi part and other copies of it but for the copies to be able to be updated according to the master one? So, let's say you do a change in velocity or change some notes on the master part and the changes to be automatically visible on the other parts that are going to somehow be linked with the main one?

Thanks:ismile:

in cubase, select the part and press ctrl+k. in the box that pops up, choose how many copies you want to make and check the little 'shared copies' checkbox. the shared copies thing is what yas talkin 'boot

Alternatively you could move the original part whilst holding down <shift><alt> - this will create a shared copy. Shared copies (aka 'ghost parts') are identified by their italic names. Once a shared copy has been created there is absolutely no difference between it and the original, ie. there is no longer a single 'original' part. It can also be very useful to assign a keyboard shortcut to the 'Convert to Real Copy' function in the Edit context menu (I use '#') as you'll use this function a lot if you want to add variation to one out of a number of shared copies.

PS. We've only got single-layer DVD readers in the house! Argh!

Cool, thanks Colin

PS. It's fine, I will resend the stuff to you soon, man
