  1. Having sense perception; conscious.
  2. Experiencing sensation or feeling.
  3. Having a faculty, or faculties, of sensation and perception.

    So, by definition, any animal that has sensory organs is sentient...
 
I guess you may need to define consciousness, then.
It just seems to go without saying to me that these creatures are conscious, as they react to sensory stimuli.
 
It's also obvious to me. But that doesn't stop millions, if not billions , of people having a major problem with this very idea
